2 Postdoctoral Researcher positions in the ”Computational and Systems Biology, and Genomics Program (CSBGP)”

CBGP, Spain

The Centro de Biotecnologia y Genómica de Plantas (Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics, CBGP), a joint research institute from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and the Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria (INIA), is seeking for outstanding candidates for 2 postdoctoral researcher positions in the CBGP (UPM-INIA) novel research initiative: Computational, Systems Biology, and Genomics Program (CSBGP).
The goals of this initiative are to develop new computational/genomics tools by applying systems-level, multi-scale, information-driven and model-driven approaches. These tools will contribute to improve plant growth, plant yield, and plant disease resistance. The postdoctoral research positions are associated to the following projects:
 Comparative metagenomics and phylogenomics (EoI-CsBGP-01)
 Synthetic biology of plant hormone circuits (EoI-CsBGP-02)
The CBGP (UPM-INIA) is a research institute that has recently recognized as Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence, an award granted by the Spanish Research Agency. The mission of the CBGP (UPM-INIA) is to carry out fundamental and strategic research in plant science and in microorganisms interacting with plants. The research is focused in understanding important biological process such as plant development, the interaction of plants with the environment and the mechanisms of plant nutrition. In addition, the CBGP is interested in developing and using computational biology tools to achieve its goals. The acquired knowledge is used to tackle major problems of the agriculture and forestry, and to develop novel technological solutions. CBGP (UPM-INIA) also has an educational role and is a reference center for training scientists and Master's and Bachelor-level students, in plant biotechnology and genomics.
