Leibniz institutes are mission oriented, interdisciplinary and legally independent, offering extraordinary infrastructure and expert knowledge. They are devoted to basic and applied research of societal and national relevance and therefore receive considerable basic funding from federal and state resources (http://www.leibniz- gemeinschaft.de/start/). IPB also is an active member of the “ScienceCampus Plant-Based Bioeconomy” (http://www.sciencecampus-halle.de/).
