Postdoc in ubiquitiation and autophagy at the University of Freiburg

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the laboratory of Marco Trujillo at the University of Freiburg.

Background

Research in the Trujillo lab (www.trujillolab.com) focuses on understanding ubiquitin signalling and its roles in the regulation of immune responses and general protein homeostasis. Ubiquitination is a post-translational modification involved in all aspect of cellular physiology. Previous and ongoing research in the Lab has uncovered key roles of ubiquitination in the regulation intracellular vesicle transport and its interplay with signalling stemming from receptor kinases.

The role

In a joint project with the laboratory of Thomas Ott (University of Freiburg; https://plantcellbiology.net), the successful candidate will work on elucidating the different roles played by ubiquitination in the interplay between two central degradatory pathways, the proteasome and autophagy. The successful candidate will use a multidisciplinary approach combining Biochemistry (protein-protein interaction analysis, enzyme activity assays, protein purification, synthetic biology, mass-spectrometry), and cell biology (CLSM, TIRF/VAEM).

This is an exciting opportunity for the applicant to join a multi-disciplinary research group within an international centre of excellence in sciences.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with expertise in protein biochemistry and cell biology. The successful candidate will possess a PhD (full award) in protein biochemistry or a related discipline.

Reviewing of applications will start January 1st 2018 and continue until position is filled. The position is available immediately.

Additional Information

The position is temporary and ends 30.09.2020. Salary will be according to the German Public Sector Agreement (E13, 100%) commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Please include for your application: Cover letter detailing your motivation and background for applying for the position, CV, copy of PhD degree, name and address of three referees.

For further information and details, please contact Marco Trujillo directly (mtrujillo@ipb-halle.de).
