Senior Lecturer in Crop Production Science with specialisation in Annual Crops

The Department of Crop Production Ecology is located at the Ecology Centre, a part of the SLU campus Ultuna in Uppsala. Together with several other departments, SLU constitutes an internationally recognised centre for agricultural research. The Department of Crop Production Ecology carries out education and research on plants for food, feed and energy. The research is production oriented with focus on crop stands on arable land, and interactions with the surrounding landscape. The department is investigating how different production methods and cropping systems affect yields, product quality and the surrounding environment. The recruitment of a senior lecturer in crop production science is a part of the Department’s work to develop and strengthen the research area of crop production of annual crops at SLU. The employment provides space for own research and research management of at least 50% with great opportunities to get involved in exciting, applied projects in the agricultural research area at and outside SLU.

Subject area

The subject area compasses crop production science with specialisation in sustainable cultivation of annual agricultural crops.


The senior lecturer is expected to:

  • develop and lead the education in crop production science at basic, advanced and postgraduate level
  • contribute to the development of the postgraduate subject crop production science and supervise PhD students
  • develop and lead successful research within the subject area
  • develop and maintain national and international networks with researchers, industry, agriculture and society in general
  • disseminate research
  • actively apply for external research funds
  • be able to teach in Swedish within two years
