A 3-year Postdoc position (with possibility of 1 or 2 years extension) is available at the University of Bern (Switzerland) to work on a SNSF Starting Grant project. The project aims to address the impact of past climate and human disturbance on mountain vegetation at different scales, from intraspecific genetic variation to local and regional vegetation dynamics, using plant remains preserved in cave ice archives. The position involves ice coring in different European mountain ranges, microscopic analyses, the isolation of aDNA, and the analysis of paleoecological and paleogenomic data to assess genetic diversity variation. You should have a PhD in Paleoecology, Paleogenomics or a related field with research experience on some of the following fields: plant ecology, population genetics, pollen analysis, aDNA analysis. You are highly motivated, reliable, resilient, independent, precise and like to work in a team. You have a documented experience in writing scientific articles and possess good communication and organization skills. A good command of English is fundamental. Expertise in aDNA analysis and bioinformatic tools (Unix, R, Python) is advantageous.
