Postdoc Position in Root Biology and Mycorrhiza at Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology, Germany; The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology, located in Potsdam-Golm, Germany, has a group focused on Root Biology and Mycorrhiza, led by Prof. Dr. Caroline Gutjahr. This group investigates the symbiotic relationship between plants and mycorrhizal fungi, particularly the arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) symbiosis.

Arbuscular Mycorrhiza Symbiosis: Studying how AM fungi colonize plant roots, the molecular mechanisms involved, and how this symbiosis benefits plant growth by improving nutrient and water uptake. Molecular Mechanisms: Exploring the genetic and biochemical pathways that facilitate the interaction between plants and AM fungi, including how plant hormone signaling and cytoskeletal elements regulate root hair development and symbiosis establishment.

The institute has advertised for a Postdoctoral position in Root Biology and Mycorrhiza, indicating active research and development in this area. This position focuses on the biochemical functions of proteins involved in AM symbiosis. Extensive greenhouse facilities for plant cultivation, with a focus on various model and crop plants, providing a controlled environment for research on plant-fungi interactions.

The MPI for Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam is looking for a Postdoc (m/f/d) in the group Root Biology and Mycorrhiza of Caroline Gutjahr. The position is available immediately:

Background: The Gutjahr lab is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the colonization of plant roots by symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi. Using proximity labelling have identified interacting proteins of important regulators of root colonization. The project aims at confirming and characterizing the cellular and biochemical functions of the interacting proteins in AM symbiosis. Applicants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with publications on arbuscular mycorrhiza and especially from the group to ensure their interest in our research. For specific questions please contact Caroline Gutjahr.
