W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor (with tenure track to W3) or W3 Associate Professor; to begin as soon as possible

Scientific environment

The professorship belongs to the Department Molecular Life Sciences within the TUM School of Life Sciences. The TUM School of Life Sciences is located at the vibrant campus of Freising – Weihen-stephan providing a multitude of possibilities for research collaborations in the areas of e.g. Plant Physiology, Plant Genetics, Plant Systems Biology, Plant Developmental Genetics, Biotechnology of Horticultural Crops, Plant Breeding, Natural Product Chemistry, and Artificial Organelles on site.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scien-tists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Plant Cell Biology with a focus on cell dynamics in response to abiotic or biotic stimuli, mechanosensing, cell-cell interaction, intracellular transport processes, subcellular cell organistation, high end life imaging, use of synthetic and/or genetic sensors for subcellular domains, subcellular structures, cell wall, metabolites, and/or visuali-zation of protein dynamics. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs, especially in the fields of biology, molecular biotechnology, biochemistry and agri-cultural Bio-Sciences.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, regarding the relevant career level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad and – in the case of appointment as Associate Professor – the proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attract competitive third-party fund-ing (e.g. EU, DFG, BMBF) are expected.
