|Exploring natural genetic variation is key in Plant Breeding. Phenotype and genotype are two important aspects of our research on crop plants. Creating genetic variation can be done in many different ways.
At plant breeding we create our own genetic variation by crossing different parental lines in a variety of crops we investigate but also by creating mutations either by chemical mutagenesis or by using molecular approaches (gene editing, cis-genesis and transgenesis).
You will coordinate the planning of greenhouse experiments and facilitate the interaction of researchers with caretakers at the plant growth facilities at Unifarm (greenhouses, screencages, climate chambers and field). Your activities will focus on a number of Solaneceous crops, like tomato and pepper, and you will assist researchers focusing on the development and use of genetic resources (plants) for the various research topics in Plant Breeding.
You will work in close cooperation with colleagues in the department, PhD and MSc students, and with the crop caretakers in Unifarm. You will have an important role in the interaction between the researchers and the crop caretakers at Unifarm.
|We are looking for a HBO technician with experience in Plant Science/ Agronomy/ Botany and affinity for plant experiments in greenhouses. The successful candidate can work independently, but values collaboration with PhD and MSc students and other researchers.
The candidate should have several of the following qualifications:
